The High Noon Roadcut

I'm very pleased that I was able to get back to this location and collect some additional material in hopes of answering some questions I have about the fluorescent minerals found here. The UV lights I'm using in this video come from www.perkyboxes.com (not sponsored) I just think it's a good light. Fiddlers Canyon Blue Agate // Rockhounding Utah
Переглядів 13 тис.21 день тому
I must say this was a highlight of our trip for me as it was a gorgeous and productive rockhounding adventure heading up Fiddlers Canyon. I also liked everything that came after this outing, as I have never spent so much time thinking about what blue rocks really are, or if they are even blue at all. Three Peaks Magnetite & Fluorapatite Crystals // Rockhounding Utah

This was a great place to visit that I have had my eye on for some time now, and I'm pleased with what I found. We didn't spend a ton of time around this area, but it certainly does have lots to offer, and I'm sure that with some exploring more can be found. Roadside Crinoids and Brachiopods at the Clark Canyon Reservoir // Rockhounding Montana

If you have watched the channel for any amount of time, then you know that I love some easy roadside rockhounding, or in this case, easy roadside fossil hunting. This location was a great little stop on a much longer drive and if you're driving along I-15 in Montana, it's worth stopping at. This is our second time going to one of the rock and gem shows put on by the Lakeside Gem & Mineral Club in Kennewick, Washington and the first one we went to was great, and the second one was even better! The cases were fantastic, we ran into a few people that we knew, and I even picked up a few nice specimens for myself. Mike Zinski's Amazing Lapidary Shop ua-cam.com/video/gF8b4Y5qq_g/v-deo.h...
Radioactive Rocks & Fluorescence

I love my radioactive rocks as well as my UV lights, so why not combine them into one video! This is a really massive subject which, if fully explored, the video would be hours and hours long, rather than doing that, we are hitting the high notes here and sticking to only the important parts that a collector of rocks and minerals should be concerned with. All-U-Need Upgrades? // Magnetic Laps Might Be a Bad Idea...
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 місяці тому
I'm a fan of this flat lap as it's simple and affordable. The main criticism I see about it is the limited space you get with the design, which brings up the question about removing the thumb stud that holds the lap down to get some more room on it. While the concept of removing the nut that holds the lap down might seem like a good idea on the surface, when you really get into what it's actual...

    Did ever go to Oregon where they have the Sunstones. I've been thinking about it myself.

    Just had to watch the video. So I was something like 3-6 miles from the bank of the Columbia River Rock Hounding! Believe I was finding serpentine. Hey I can tell you that flower is a bitterroot. Edible if harvested before they bloom. Back to rockhounding, I was thinking the specimens found turned out to be greenstone. Then I was harvesting pegmatite, believe to contain tourmaline crystal. Now I will mention the rock I brought home, I was cleaning it. Left it in tap water overnight. Moss grew out of it when I left it overnight to dry out. Would that rock be an agate??? Miles from the Columbia River bank up and over some plateaus to this spot. So there was no running water here for eon.

    Stonerose is a great place. I took students there for quite a few years. I think I might have enjoyed more than the students. I rode my motorcycle to Republic yesterday. Fun fact: at one point in history what is now the location of Republic was on the west coast of the North American continent.

    Great tips! Just have one question. I've had some build up/sludge come out of my bearing block when i took it apart to clean. Wasn't sure if I needed to clean that out because it came greased. If I should, what lubricant should I apply after cleaning?

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding День тому

      That is a good question, i'm not sure what you should use exactly for re-greasing it.
